Prolix

Essays come and go, one comment stays. My sentences are awkward, phrasing is prolix and is far too wordy. Got meh?

If Pierre Macherey can write his essay on "The Text Says What it Doesn't Say" in so dense a language that 8 pages feels more like 800 when I read it, mine could not be worse than him right? And he has a theory to his name. And a reputation as a literary critic. And i get comments on my wordiness. Haha... I tend to sqeeze too many words and "ands" into a sentence, employing commas and semi-colons so as to chain ideas up, and therefore steep into obfuscating and exceedingly long sentences, which coupled with inaccurate grammar, proves to be a chore to read. You didn't catch that? You got it.

Oh that forever sexy Prof Lim interrupted a coursemate's presentation on some salmon imagery in a Jacobean play. He mentioned that the salmon seems to be the (or one of the) symbol of NUS. Apparently the salmon is a motif on the uni tie or something and they have a statue of that fish at University Hall. "A salmon in an equatorial clime?" he muses. Fitting metaphor for us students though. We try to go against and up the bell-curve like the salmon swims upstream to reach breeding pools. And along the way, the salmon gets swiped at by bears hanging around, just like us with those interestingly disastrous assignments. And then nevermind... maybe we will all collapse and die, just like the salmon after they breed at the end of the journey.

Die with a cert. Now at least the salmon had sex before death. Sounds like a better deal for the fish. Salmon indeed.
