Ever took part in any community club trip to interesting areas of singapore? Do try to sign up for one if you haven't tried. And for the most fulfilling experience, bring a elder along.
Granny and I have always been good travelling/exploring buddies. She is at age 72 (going to be 73 this coming thur), a rather cute and active old lady. Across the years, and especially so after Grand-dad passed on, we have been to many places, and have seen many things. I feel it's important for the elderly to live an active life, and regardless of what you think of dating a granny, I love to bring her out to experience the great outdoors. She walks faster than me (which she attributes to some tonic medicine she takes), and I am proud to say she tirelessly walked from the top of Mt Faber to Hort Park. "It is better to walk when one still can walk", that's her words to me, and we'll be walking all over Singapore for years eh gran?
Ok so this time we went to Changi Boardwalk, Marina Barrage and Bukit Chandu. Trip was with Gran's taiji classmates...
Changi Boardwalk: sunny skies, white clouds, blue sea, granny and meThen onwards to the Marina Barrage
Bukit Chandu: heroism, the Malay Regiment and honorary poem on it by Edward Thumboo ala Charge of the Light Brigade engraved on a plate
And meet another elder, Snooker the dog (uncle's) who thinks he is a young puppy. That nonsense old dog-thing ran away with his leash on. And disappeared for two hours before being taken back by neighbours. You are lucky you didn't get dognapped and eaten. He acts cute, but is actually this mercenary dog that begs for food and treats you in the manner of a cat if you are not eating...No we did not beat him for running away, don't get taken in by that piteous look. We only scolded him severely. Didn't even starve that bugger.
